On a night the defense had one of its best nights of 2018, West Monroe held of Noxubee County (Miss.) 30-9 Friday on Don Shows Field at Rebel Stadium.
West Monroe defensive back Brooks Miller credited the defensive line yet Miller made his own big plays with a pair interceptions to get to 11 in less than two years.
"Our defensive line does a great job," Miller said. "There is so much pressure they ha e to throw it. We had some injuries tonight minor ones and we just have a lot of depth (on defense)."
West Monroe struggled with fumbles and had three lost on the night that the Tigers recovered yet led 9-3 at halftime.
The defense kept pushing Noxubee back inside its own 10-yard line included a Safety that included three turnovers and a safety in the first quarter.
Running back Cameron Wright rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns and fullback Cayden Pierce had his best game of the year with 75 yards and a touchdown for the Rebels.
“Especially in the first half, I thought we were pretty sloppy,” West Monroe coach Jerry Arledge said. “We did a poor job of blocking and a poor job of hanging on to the football. I don’t know why. I guess it is not knowing much about your opponent and looking at last year’s score (beating Noxubee). I know this coming week their will be a lot of enthusiasm."
