The West Monroe boys basketball team completed a disastrous two-day stay in the 2018 Don Redden Classic at Ouachita with a 62-49 loss to Lafayette Christian on Thursday.
Lafayette Christian, ranked No. 1 in Division IV by the latest LHSAA power rankings, led most of the night as the Rebels stumbled out of the gate.
The Knights got off to a 18-11 early lead before West Monroe had a strong second quarter and the Rebels lead by two-points at halftime.
Second chance points for the Knights was again a sore spot for the Rebels as LCA got key offensive rebounds in the second half that kept offensive possessions going for the Knights.
“It goes back to I am not doing a good enough job of getting us prepared to play,” Coach Kyle Hill said. “Right now, we are not valuing the basketball and it is costing us games. They made some shots in the second half and they made us pay for our mistakes.”
A pair of veterans made some big shots as a bright spot for the Rebels. Chris Tyler and Langston Powell each finished with a team-high 12 points.
