Lady Rebel softball falls to Ouachita
The West Monroe Lady Rebels dropped a 9-3 district tilt on Thursday to the Ouachita Lady Lions.
West Monroe jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning with Maddie Hayden belting out a two-run double and Logan Dalfume hitting an RBI a bit later.
Ouachita then scored nine straight runs, including four home runs to rally past the Lady Rebels and improve to 3-1 in District 2-5A.
“Obviously they (Ouachita) swing the bats so well,” West Monroe coach Amy Daigle said. “You know you have to score runs against them. We made some mistakes in the field that gave them a little bit extra tonight. You take some of those and the score is a bit different. Overall, I am proud of our kids effort. They fought the entire time.”
West Monroe will hit the road to Sulphur Friday for a two-day tournament at the site of the LHSAA state tournament.
West Monroe will play Live Oak on Friday and a double-header with Slidell and Dutchtown on Saturday in Sulphur.
“It gives us a good feel of teams down south,” Daigle said. “And we are looking for three wins hopefully.”
